Y Share Cleaning & Maintenance (age 14+) *MLK Weekend 2018*

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Our aim is to educate the community about racism, sexism and other forms of oppression, so that together, we can strive for a more equitable world.

The YWCA of Greater Portland’s mission is to eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.

Project Description:
Help us keep the grounds around our Y share homes in good condition. Assist with cleaning and small repairs at our Y Share homes (our shared housing program for DV survivors and their children). Y Share, gives survivors of domestic violence and their children the ability to lease rooms at 4 homes in the metro area for as long as they need to heal from trauma and take back control of their lives. This includes deep cleaning, electrical, plumbing, and general home repairs.

Important Info:
Please wear comfortable clothes that can get dirty, bag lunch, snacks and water will be provided.

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 14 years of age or older to attend this project.
