About:
Friends of Trees inspires people to improve the natural world around them through a simple solution: Planting Trees. Together.
Project Description:
During this service project we'll break into planting crews and together plant many hundred native trees and shrubs to green this popular community park (Tranquil City park) and bring the benefits of nature to these nearby neighborhoods. We hope to celebrate Dr. King's legacy of service by planting trees together!
Important Info:
- Tranquil City Park is easily located off I-5 and SW Wilsonville Rd. Please find parking in the neighborhood and look for our 'Friends of Trees' signs as you arrive!
- Please come dressed for the weather and wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes that you don't mind getting a little dirty -- and get ready to have fun!
- Friends of Trees will provide breakfast snacks and hot chocolate/coffee, as well as gloves, tools and planting guidance.
Project Requirements:

You must be 6 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 16 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
All volunteers under 18 are required to bring a Youth Volunteer Release Form signed by their parent or legal guardian. Please download, complete, and bring this waiver with you on the day of the project.

If you plan to bring children/additional volunteers you MUST reserve slots for them. The best way to do this is to create a Volunteer Team, then sign up your team for this project. Questions? Email teams@handsonportland.org

The Volunteer Action Center is a bustling place and only unlockable lockers are available for purse/bag/coat storage during the project. Please leave your valuables at home.

Team Captains are only able to reserve up to 50% of the spots on any individual MLK Weekend of Service Project. Team Captains are required to provide names and email addresses for each team member (over the age of 13) in order to hold spaces on a volunteer project or they may be removed from the project. Teams that repeatedly sign up, but do not show up or show up with fewer volunteers than they signed up, may be removed.
