Building Community Through Reuse (age 14+)*Stand Together Week*

Reduce, recycle, reuse! Help reduce the flow of useable building materials into the waste stream by volunteering at the Rebuilding Center's non-profit resource center for used building materials. We'll be doing a hands-on project, so come ready to work and have fun! We will be working with the various building materials that are donated to The ReBuilding Center on a daily basis. Tasks may include: sorting materials such as trim, lighting, tile, and miscellaneous materials, pulling nails, sweeping, measuring doors and more. The ReBuilding Center’s needs are different every day.

Closed toe shoes required, bring a water bottle and work gloves if you have them. Please dress for the weather, our building is not climate controlled and can be very cold. Some tasks may involve medium to heavy lifting. Youth welcome with parent or guardian. Enter thru the big brown community trees (you'll know them when you see them) and head around the corner to your right. The group gathers at the community tables in the resource center. Please be as punctual as possible as the ReBuilding Center closes to the public at 6pm.

About the Rebuilding Center:
The ReBuilding Center is a community building organization founded on the belief the the resources to address local challenges in a sustainable and equitable way exists right here in our own back yards. By diverting up to 8 tons of usable building materials from the waste stream on a daily basis, we connect all stakeholders in the communities' success through environmental justice, accessibility, equity and inclusion, and education and advocacy. Our Store on N Mississippi Ave is the regions largest depot for salvaged building material and, offering these materials at 40-90% of retail, is open to the public 7 days a week. We also offer affordable carpentry and home repair classes in our ReFind Education Shop, also on N. Mississippi Ave. All proceeds from the sale of salvaged material and class tickets allow us to: donate raw materials to community-based projects in need, connect grass-roots organizations with the resources they need to turn ideas into action, and provide over 3,000 volunteers opportunities in job-skill development and hands on sustainability work exposure every year.

What to Bring/Wear:
Dress for the weather and wear closed-toed shoes! If you have a pair of work gloves and/or safety glasses, bring 'em!
