Technology Tutor at Weidler Commons (age 16+) Referral
Northwest Housing Alternatives is seeking one Technology Tutor to volunteer at least twice a month at Weidler Commons, located off 21st and Weidler. This is a senior building that has had a technology tutor in the past. Their highest need is around computer, laptop, tablet and cell phone use, especially with the increased development in technology. The volunteer will meet with residents in the community room, residents are asked to bring their technology with them. Computers are provided in the community room for learning purposes. The day of the week can be picked by volunteer to best fit their schedule. This is a volunteering opportunity that is minimally supervised and requires a higher level of self-motivation and leadership. The coordinator for the building will be available at all times but will not necessarily be onsite during the mentoring hours.

NHA provides affordable housing options for families, seniors and people with special needs across Oregon. Northwest Housing Alternatives’ properties are enriched with Resident Services to provide our residents with opportunities to live healthy, stable, and fulfilling lives. Volunteers will be given an opportunity to not only provide an asset skill but socialize with residents who may have minimal interaction with the outside world.
Due to minimal supervision, volunteer(s) will learn how to plan and coordinate lessons, prepare for class, time-management and be self-guided leaders.
Opportunity Requirements:

Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older to participate in this opportunity; any volunteer under age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
