Hospital Unit Volunteer (age 16+) Referral
Volunteers are currently needed to assist with a variety of positions within Emanuel. We place volunteers throughout the hospital to help support patients, staff, and visitors with non-medical needs.
A Hospital Unit Volunteer will act as a liaison between the nursing staff, patients, and families by providing excellent customer service. Responsibilities will include answering phones and patient call lights, greeting and directing patient visitors, rounding on appropriate patients and offering non-medical support, inventorying and stocking supplies, cleaning and organizing unit areas, and other special projects as determined by the unit charge nurse / supervisor.
Volunteer placement will be determined by an interview, which will assess the candidate’s qualifications, interests, availability, and current needs of the hospital.
Please note that we ask for a 6 month minimum commitment for most volunteer duties. This equates to one designated 4-hour volunteer shift per week. We have volunteer shift openings 7 days a week, at all times of the day. Note that some opportunities have more specific requirements.
