Catholic Charities Social Media & Communications Intern (age 18+) Referral

Catholic Charities of Oregon seeks a talented, creative and motivated individual to serve as our Fall 2018 Social Media & Communications Intern on the Development team. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, visually-inclined, and someone who is both teachable and an out-of-the-box thinker. This is a great position for a candidate looking to grow their digital marketing, design, and communications skills - with ample opportunity to work in and learn Adobe Suite, research and write agency communication guidelines, and gain experience in digital marketing and communications.

Purpose: Intern will primarily provide assistance to the Digital Marketing Specialist by managing social media campaigns, analysis, and posts. Intern will also assist the Digital Marketing Specialist and Annual Campaign and Special Events Manager with larger projects and campaigns such as the Fall, Christmas, and end-of-year campaigns, storytelling initiatives, video and podcast production, communications guidelines development, marketing strategy, and other projects as assigned.

Commitment:
10-16 hours per week
Can be customized for student requirements
Commit to a minimum of one school term
Variable workweek schedule
Please note that Catholic Charities is very flexible with midterm, school holidays, and changing class schedules.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities: Create, plan and strategize content for the social media calendar. Track and analyze statistics on social platforms. Run paid Facebook campaigns. Write social media strategy and communication guidelines for the organization including objectives, ideal time to post, effective language, style guidelines, brand guidelines, campaign guidelines, social media management, users, etc. Create and execute daily posts for Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn. Use Buffer - online scheduling platform - to schedule and manage social posts. Assist Digital Marketing Specialist with video and podcast production. Use Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, & Canva to help create visually compelling social video clips and design. Help develop theme and storytelling content for the Annual Christmas campaign. Assist Digital Marketing Specialist with larger social media, storytelling and marketing campaigns on Classy, MailChimp, and other projects as needed.

Requirements:
Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university undergraduate or graduate internship program with a minimum of 2 years completed.
Excellent communication skills (both interpersonal and with supervisors)
Attention to detail and strong organization skills.
Willing to take initiative and work independently in a fast-paced office.
Experience or strong desire in working with people from a variety of cultures and ethnic backgrounds.
Excellent time management skills.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, e-mail, and Internet.
Familiarity with Facebook, Instagram, Twitter & LinkedIn
Must be able to pass background check
Familiarity with Adobe products (preferred)
Former graphic design experience (optional) Bilingual in Spanish/English (bonus)

Compensation: The internship is unpaid however interns may be reimbursed for mileage accrued in driving for the purposes of the program.
