Processing & Merchandising Party at Habitat ReStore (age 16+) *MLK Weekend 2019*

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore accepts donated new and used building materials, furniture, appliances, lighting fixtures and other home goods, and we sell them in our stores to raise money for Habitat home-building projects. In fact, this past year we took in 47,326 donations from individuals and business partners.

Our stores in Portland, Gresham, Beaverton and Vancouver support three Habitat affiliates: Portland/Metro East, Willamette West, and Evergreen. In the past three years, we raised enough money to build just under 40 Habitat homes in partnership with low-income families.

The ReStore is also big into reuse. This year our team helped to divert 7,278 tons of reusable materials from landfills--and we're working to improve that number. We Our shoppers are some of the most creative on the planet. We love how they re-think, re-imagine and re-invent with used materials. Of course we have to heap praise and appreciation on our generous donors and business partners and our amazing team of over 2,000 volunteers who clocked over 62,000 hours this past year. Together we're helping to make the dream of homeownership a reality for hardworking families right here.

What is The ReStore? We are the home improvement outlet where you'll discover something new (and used) every day.

On this service project, we will be working on processing and merchandising donated paint. This is a simple process that you will be trained on. It only take a minute or two, but every gallon of paint you process brings in $7 for our cause. Every ten 5 gallon buckets processed make $350 towards building homes. With your help, we will make thousands of dollars towards ending poverty and homelessness, in just a few hours.

Volunteering at the ReStore builds homes. Every dollar we make supports efforts to end homelessness and fight poverty right here in your local community.
