Spruce Up Martin Luther King, Jr. School (age 8+) *MLK Weekend 2019*

Join us in honoring the legacy of Dr. King through meaningful service to our community: "Everybody can be great... because anybody can serve."
-- Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Join Martin Luther King, Jr. School students and neighbors, NE Coalition of Neighborhoods, and King Green to beautify the grounds of Martin Luther King, Jr. School. We will be concentrating on beautifying the east side of MLK Jr. School. Tasks will include weeding, trimming, garbage cleanup, spreading mulch, possible painting (weather permitting), clothing closet organization, furniture moving, and other similar activities.

Please dress for the weather and bring garden gloves if you have them as well as a water bottle. We also encourage volunteers to bring any of the following tools: wheelbarrows, shovels, loppers, hand pruners, brooms, buckets.

This project is a partnership between NE Coalition of Neighborhoods, the MLK Jr. PTA Garden, and King Neighborhood Association.

Since 1974, NE Coalition of Neighborhoods has been creating the building blocks of community in Northeast Portland and beyond by empowering residents from all walks of life to get informed, get involved, and take action in their city.

At Martin Luther King, Jr. School, we believe in the unlimited potential of everyone in our diverse community. We believe that a caring well-balanced student will be motivated to become a global citizen who is inspired to take action.
