Minimum Age:18+

Cook at Home for Youth Experiencing Homelessness (age 0+) *Hands On*

Volunteers and friends of p:ear, we’d love your help preparing and donating food! We are serving to-go burrito sack lunches and are seeking support to provide nourishment for the young people we serve.

Note from p:ear: We will be closed from June 12th - June 29th, so that we can take this time to refocus, restructure, and organize the space for reopening on June 29th. During this time, we won't be accepting food donations as we will not be serving food. We look forward to having your support with meal prep when we reopen!

Please read all of the following information carefully before expressing interest.

Visit https://www.mealtrain.com/trains/1wgw6q to sign up to provide burrito sack lunches and/or baked goods for 50+ people on a day that works well for you. If you want to contribute in this way and are unable to provide the full 50 servings, get in touch with our Safe Space Coordinator, Tony.

Burrito items and baked good donations can be prepared at home, then dropped at our downtown location (338 NW 6th St) on Monday-Friday from 8:00am-1:00pm. Note: The sign ups on the Hands On calendar are not necessarily the date you will bring your meal. You must confirm your donation and drop-off plan with Tony before arriving at p:ear.

Questions? You can “sign up” below to get connected with our volunteer coordinator Tony, or email him directly at tony@pearmentor.org. Thank you for giving what you can to support Portland youth experiencing homelessness!

About p:ear:
p:ear builds positive relationships with homeless and transitional youth, ages 15-25, through education, art and recreation to affirm personal worth and create more meaningful, healthy lives. Each year our programs serve more than 700 homeless and transitional young people. p:ear staff and volunteers serve as mentors, friends, and role models, while p:ear's unique programs create opportunities for young people to grow intellectually, express themselves constructively, communicate in positive ways and engage in meaningful interactions with the larger community of Portland.

The strength of the p:ear community is mighty and essential to many of our lives. We remain committed to doing our very best to ensure that p:ear continues to be a compassionate, safe and reliable resource to our community during this challenging time. In response to recommendations by Governor Kate Brown and the CDC, we have adjusted our programs over the next few weeks to support the wellbeing of the whole p:ear community. Until further notice, p:ear will be providing “out the door” sack lunches, essential resources, and services Monday through Friday from 9:00am – 1:00pm at our 338 NW 6th St location.
