Connect with Seniors with our Friendly Friday Calls (age 18+) Referral

Are you great on the phone? Do you enjoy making connections? Our Friendly Friday Caller program began with the Covid 19 Stay Home Stay Safe Campaign. Since many of our clients are homebound, our Friendly Calls provide that extra check-in when many of our clients may be feeling socially isolated during this time of uncertainty. Callers are provided with a client list of 10-15 clients to call each Friday and have a friendly conversation. We provide a suggested script and updates from Store to Door and Fred Meyer.

Volunteers for this position make a weekly commitment in order to provide consistency for our clients, completing their calls from 9-11am or 1-3pm each Friday. We also ask that you are able to volunteer as a friendly caller for at least 3 months.  Friendly Call Volunteer shifts are remote. Volunteers must have a telephone and access to a computer and log in to our online portal. A background check is required.

Store to Door is a local nonprofit that supports independent living for Portland area seniors and people with disabilities by providing an affordable, personal, volunteer-based grocery shopping and delivery service.

Without the dedicated support of volunteers like you, this service would not be available. Here's what clients have to say:

"Using Store to Door enables me to get fresh produce and to make better nutritional choices than if I went to the convenience store across the street."

"Your help is priceless!"
