Opportunity Details

Winter Weatherization Kit Building with CEP (age 12+) *Impact Week*

We believe that everyone deserves a safe, healthy, efficient home, regardless of income.
Community Energy Project provides free home services focused on safety, health, and energy efficiency. We provide free community education and supplies, as well as direct home energy upgrades and repairs. All our services are made possible by partnerships with community members and service organizations, utilities, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.

Volunteers will receive a brief orientation on how to assemble the free kits of materials that are give to low-income participants attending our Winter Weatherization Workshop. Additionally, volunteers will learn about the content we provide in the workshop, what the materials are used for, and how they help low-income people save energy, money on their bills, and stay more comfortable in their home. Volunteers will be broken into groups to assemble the various components of the kits and, towards the end, will help assemble the components into full kits that will be stored at our office until we start hosting workshops in mid-to-late October.

Wear something comfortable, perhaps layers as our conference room will be filled with many bodies and materials. As the timing of the event overlaps with lunch, please feel free to bring food and snacks and take breaks as you need (a fridge and microwave are available to use). NO PEANUTS or peanut products, we have a severe allergy in our office.

DIRECTIONS & TRANSIT:

Parking lot between Laurelhurst Theater and the Old Trolley Building is free and available for all volunteers to park at on Saturdays. Bus stop directly in front of the office serve TriMet Bus #20 frequent service. Bikes can be parked inside our office space.
