Opportunity Details

Working Theory Farming Day (age 14+) *Impact Week*

At Working Theory Farm our mission is to empower youth through the shared work of farming to grow food for partner organizations who distribute this food to families in need.

Through growing vegetables and raising livestock on our organic farm, we provide alternative education and avenues of employment to youth who have barriers to thriving within traditional systems and teach personal responsibility, social responsibility, and professional skills.

Volunteers will start the day with an opening circle, where we will all introduce ourselves and the give a brief history of the farm. Then we will engage in whatever fall activities we will need support with that allow us to grow as much food as possible for families facing food insecurity. This can include harvesting, weeding, garlic processing, bed prep, visiting chickens, building small grow tunnels, etc.

Volunteers should wear weather appropriate clothing that they are comfortable getting dirty with. Bring a water bottle and a snack. Gloves if you like. We have waterproof boots & gloves to borrow onsite if needed.
