Grow & Stock Food at Beaverton's Giving Gardens (age 10+) *STW 2012*

If you'd like to work outside, get a little sun, and help needy families by growing organic vegetables, then we would love to have you come out and volunteer with us! Join our group of fun, family friendly garden volunteers - experience not required.

We'll start off volunteering in the City of Beaverton's Giving Gardens, which supplies fresh food to Tualatin Valley Gleaners, Sunshine Pantry, and St. Matthews Food Pantry for hungry families in our community.

At the garden tasks may include: laying down paths, raking, planting vegetables and flowers, weeding, and harvesting. Please bring some gloves and drinking water. And note that the field does not have bathroom facilities, but we're able to use the facilities at retail stores located near by.

After working in the garden for a while, we'll move over to the Beaverton Resource Center (about two miles away from the garden; please plan to drive or carpool between locations) to stock the pantry and experience the next step in our harvest's path to hungry families.

This is a family friendly volunteer opportunity, so please feel free to bring the kids along for some great family fun!

Note: Volunteers age 10-12 may volunteer along with a responsible adult.
Volunteers age 13+ are welcome to volunteer on their own.
