Stomp Out Stigma with NAMIWalks Northwest (age 13+) Referral

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for individuals living with mental illness and for their families and other loved ones through education, support, and advocacy. NAMIWalks Northwest is an event designed to create community and decrease stigma around mental health, to make our community a safer place to live for people living with mental illness. This event is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and the proceeds from this event go to keeping the services we provide - like educational classes, support groups, legislative advocacy - completely free to those who need it.

For our day-of event, we need volunteers to help set-up tents and tables, welcome and register walkers as they arrive, direct foot traffic along the walk route, hand out t-shirts and water bottles, and help clean up at the end of the event. We will also need volunteers to help facilitate activities, like horse-shoe toss, face painting, poster making, a photo booth, etc. Our event is scheduled at Peninsula Park on Saturday, May 18, 2024 from 11am-2pm.

Volunteers are what make the walk go smoothly every year! Volunteers will help ensure that participants are having a good time, help out with activities, and help keep the space clean.

There are many opportunities open to volunteers such as putting up banners and route signs, face painting, helping with plant potting activities, manning our photo booth, and being a greeter for participants and sponsors.

There is minimal physical labor besides the setup and take-down portions of the day, which include setting up our photo booth and canopies for tables.

Every volunteer will get a free volunteer t-shirt and breakfast and lunch will be provided.
