Food Pantry Client Services Volunteer (age 18+) Referral
William Temple House provides food, counseling, clothing, and household items to Portland-area neighbors to strengthen our community. Food Pantry volunteers directly impact this mission by supporting the weekly Food Pantry program, and assisting Clients as they shop in the Food Pantry.
Food Pantry Client Services Volunteers performs the following duties:
● Stock food pantry and supply center shelves with the assistance of other staff and volunteers.
● Maintain cleanliness and neatness of pantry area with the assistance of other staff and volunteers.
● Welcome clients and assist in the distribution of emergency food, hygiene items and other supplies to a diverse client population.

Job Requirements:
● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are a must.
● Be at least 18 years of age.
● Able to lift and carry 20+ lbs. Able to work on feet. This is a physical job.
● Make a 2 month volunteer commitment.
Special Requirements:
● Pass a criminal background check.
Time Commitment:
*Volunteers are asked to commit to one shift per week, or being available in an ‘on-call’ status as needed. Available Food Pantry Volunteer Shifts:

Tuesday 10:00 am–12:30 pm 12:30 pm–3:00 pm
Wednesday 10:00 am–12:30 pm 12:30 pm–3:00 pm
Thursday 10:00 am–12:30 pm 12:30 pm–3:00 pm
On-call: Help fill in for shifts as needed on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm, or from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm.
*24 hours notice provided to on-call volunteers, when possible.

At our Hoyt Street location (where the Food Pantry is located) masks are not required but are encouraged (and we have masks and gloves available, if needed). Also, dress is casual: jeans, t-shirts, sneakers (no sandals or open-toed shoes, please).
