Adaptive Ski and Snowboard Program (age 18+) Referral

Shriners Children’s Portland is looking for volunteers to assist with our Adaptive Ski & Snowboard Program for youth with disabilities.
- Learn to assist on adaptive ski and snowboard lessons.
- Provide empowering outdoor experiences for children with disabilities.
- Previous experience with ski/snowboard instruction is not required.

Looking for volunteers who are:
- At least 18 years old
- Expert skiers/snowboarders
- Interested in working with children with disabilities

Time Commitment:
- Mandatory on-hill training (Saturday & Sunday, March 15 & 16)
- Volunteering for at minimum two patient ski dates (on Saturdays & Sundays, April 5, 6, 12, 13, & 26)

Application Process:
- Hospital volunteer application
- Background check
- Drug screening (excluding THC)
- Online education modules
- Attend a brief orientation for new adaptive ski/snowboard volunteers, approx. 1 hour on Zoom. This will take place in late February or early March on a weeknight (we will work around your schedule).
