Depave empowers disenfranchised communities to overcome social and environmental injustices and adapt to climate change through urban re-greening. Depave transforms over-paved places, creates resilient community greenspaces, promotes workforce development and education, and advocates for policy change to undo manifestations of systemic racism.
Volunteers will learn hands on techniques for depaving land, which they could apply to their own neighborhoods or driveways. Volunteers will learn ergo dynamic tool use and safety protocols. Volunteers will be educated and exposed to topics around the Urban Heat Island Effect, green stormwater management, community building through collective experience, and will have the opportunity to make a positive impact in a community space!
