Native Plant Work Party at Zenger Farm (age 10+) Referral
Zenger Farm exists upon 24 acres of land comprised of farmland, gardens, wetland, and other green spaces. We work with volunteers to help restore and enhance native plants in the First Food Beds, hedge rows, and many other green spaces around the farm. Native plants are essential to supporting biodiversity, attracting pollinators, providing food and shelter to wildlife, and connecting people to land and nature.
During the late winter and early spring, the Native Plant Work Party volunteers will help us weed invasive plants, help identify native plants, and remove blackberry. Once the green areas are cleared of weeds, in the spring and early summer, we will transplant native plants and harvest food for our community.
Volunteers will receive a guided tour of the Zenger Farm and a brief orientation on identifying native plants we want to keep in the ground and invasive plants we want to remove. Once folks are oriented, we will break out into several groups to weed and remove blackberry.
