Giving Thanks Letter Addressing (age 13+) *Impact Week 2025*

Community Impact Week, United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, powered by Hands On Greater Portland

About the Program

At The United Way of the Columbia-Willamette, we believe that every person deserves the opportunity to thrive—regardless of race, income, or zip code. For over 100 years, we've been working alongside local families, nonprofits, and community leaders to build a region rooted in equity, resilience, and opportunity.

Our Focus Areas:

  • Early Learning: We connect families to free preschool, parenting resources, and STEM programs—laying the foundation for lifelong success.
  • Housing Stability: We help families stay in their homes through eviction defense and financial assistance.
  • Disaster & Crisis Resiliency: We prepare and support communities during times of crisis, with a focus on those most impacted.
  • Volunteerism: We mobilize thousands of volunteers to strengthen our neighborhoods and amplify local impact.

Together, we’re making a difference for the 42% of households in our region who are working hard but still struggling to make ends meet.

About the Project
Do you miss the art of sending letters? Does a flair pen bring you joy? Do you love practicing your handwriting?

Join us to spread the love by hand-addressing Thank You Cards to be sent out to supporters, friends and volunteers of United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and Hands On Greater Portland. We will also have envelope stuffing and labeling needs as well.

What you will do: Hand address cards, envelope stuffing, and labeling.

Where: This event will be held at the United Way of the Columbia-Willamette and Hands On Greater Portland headquarters in downtown Portland.

When: Feel free to drop in for as long as you would like during anytime between 9:00am - 3:00pm.

Project Requirements:

  • Volunteers must be 13 years of age or older to attend this project; any volunteer under age 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
