Home Repair and Care Day (age 12+) *Impact Week 2025*
About the Organization
Community Energy Project (CEP) partners with low-income communities on the frontlines of climate change to create more resilient, efficient, and healthy homes. CEP performs free home services focused on safety, health, and energy efficiency. We provide free community education and supplies, as well as direct home energy upgrades and repairs. All our services are made possible by partnerships with community members and service organizations, utilities, corporations, foundations, and government agencies.
About the Project
Volunteers will meet at the Community Energy Project Office to receive a brief orientation to understand CEP's mission and goals. Then volunteers will go to a location where they will support our in-homes team with a hands-on project. Most of these projects take place outdoors.
Volunteer activities may include the following tasks:
- Fence and deck repair/painting/staining
- Yard maintenance (including but not limited to yard debris clean up, pruning, weed whacking, pressure washing)
- Gutter cleaning
- Wheelchair ramp/steps weatherization and repair
- Filter cleaning/replacement
- Home cleaning
- Window cleaning
- Window caulking
- Installing/removing window kits (Seasonal)
- Installing door kits/door sweeps
Please wear comfortable clothing and closed-toed shoes. Any necessary supplies will be provided. Feel free to bring your own water, coffee, and snacks. Due to a staff member's severe peanut allergy, please do not bring any snacks that contain nuts.
