Fanno Creek Natural Area Restoration Event (age 10+) *Hands On*
Connect with nature and make a difference by improving habitat at this important natural area.
About the Program
The Westside Watershed Resource Center inspires action and awareness on behalf of watershed health. By participating in this restoration event, volunteers will directly support this mission through hands-on service that improves the health of the Fanno Creek watershed.
About the Project
Join Portland Parks & Recreation and Westside Watershed Resource Center to help improve habitat at this important natural area that Fanno Creek runs through. Volunteers will learn about the benefits of planting native plants and how introduced species can negatively impact native ecosystems and watershed health.
During this event, we will be planting native plants and removing invasive species at this Portland Parks & Recreation natural area that Fanno Creek runs through on its way to the Tualatin River. This is a great way to connect with nature and make a difference. We will be working on uneven ground, so please wear closed toed, sturdy shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Tools, gloves, instruction, and refreshments will be provided!
Children 10+ are welcome, if accompanied by an attentive adult. Youth 16+ may attend independently with parent permission. Please note that the short path to where we will be working is a little steep.
Accessibility: This event will require bending over and walking on uneven surfaces. Please note: there is a short, steep, and narrow section of the trail to get to the site.
Questions? For more information, please contact Seth Healy at manager@westsidewatersheds.org or 503-865-6759.
