Help out at this fun recycling and waste event in the Richmond neighborhood of SE Portland.
About the Program
The Goal of the Richmond Neighborhood Association (RNA) is to provide a forum to develop neighborhood cohesiveness and improve livability by coordinating neighborhood projects, disseminating information and promoting active involvement in neighborhood activities.
The event improves livability by providing free waste collection and recycling, very cheap reusable items, and senior pickup services.
About the Project
Community Recycling & Waste Collection Event in the Richmond Neighborhood May 16, 2026. This event is open to anyone 15 and older to volunteer at.
Volunteers sought for 2 or 3 hour shifts at recycling and waste collection event for free drop off by the public. We will have four or five 40-yard containers for bulky waste, a 40 yd container for metal, electronics recycling and a large Plants and Rummage Sale. We provide pickup services for Seniors.
Event is 9am to 1pm, with 1, 2, or 3 hour shifts:
7:30 - 8:30 setup
8:30-11:30 event support
11:00 - 2:00 event support
1:00 - 3:00 cleanup
Morning snacks and pizza lunch provided to volunteers, who also get items for free at the Plant and Rummage Sales.
This is a fun event!
Project Requirements
- Age: Volunteers must be 15+; under 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
