Support Early Learning at Ready for Preschool Event (age 18+) *Hands On*

Lend a few hours to help families prepare for early education!
About the Program
We believe every child can be successful in school. But—too often—race, ethnicity and language are predictors of poverty and low rates of school success.
Why? Because our existing system of social services, schools, and community supports isn't set up to effectively serve children and families of color. We want to change that.
We’re building an early learning system that is free from bias and gives every child what they need to learn and grow.
About the Project
This annual Pre-K event brings Preschool Promise Providers across Portland to one event for families to explore and pick a preschool provider based on their family needs.
Families will be able to meet multiple preschool promise vendors, ask questions, get assistance with application and visit with other community organizations and resources.
This will be a family centered event, there will be a handful of vendors providing enrichment and entertainment throug-out the event.
There will be a number of different volunteer needs, including greeting attendees, and helping direct them to resources. We would also like to have face painters as this is regularly a big hit that produces long lines.
Volunteers for the first shift will help with set up at the beginning, and second shift volunteers will assist with clean up at the end.
Shift One: Help with setup, greeting attendees, and directing to resouces
Shift Two: Face painting and art support
Shift Three: Greeting atendees, directing to resources, and clean up
We are expecting at least 200-300 people to come through and receive resources, and your support will help ensure everyone leaves with information to set up the children for success!
Project Requirements
- Age: Volunteers must be 18 years of age to participate in this opportunity
- Training: Brief on‑site orientation provided at shift start.
- Dress code: Closed‑toe shoes; comfortable attire suitable for light activity.
