ODHS Resource Parent Appreciation Event (age 15+) Referral

Volunteer Opportunity

Show appreciation to the families who open their homes and hearts to children in care.

About the Program

The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) mission is to help Oregonians in their own communities achieve well-being and independence through opportunities that protect, empower, respect choice, and preserve dignity. The dedication of volunteers plays a vital role in our work, helping the agency fulfill its mission and achieve its goals for Oregonians. Your support strengthens our impact, allowing us to better serve the community and make a meaningful difference.

About the Project

May is National Foster Care Month, a time we come together to celebrate and honor our resource parents.  In Washington County, we have about 200 resource parents who care for about 300 children in foster care.  This celebration is one of the most meaningful ways we show appreciation to the families who open their homes and hearts to children in care.

We typically have 100-120 folks (children and adults) who attend these gatherings.  Our desire is to bring resource parent together for connection, activities, food, and prizes.  We need your help with making this celebration happen for our resource parents and kids.

Activities we need help with:
Morning shift, 8am -12 pm. Unload supplies, help with event set up, decorations, help with registration, food, etc

Afternoon shift, 12pm - 4pm. Help at registration table, floating help during event, and event clean up after event.

Project Requirements

  • Age: Volunteers must be 15+; under 18 must attend with a parent or adult chaperone.
