Villages NW is all about neighbors helping neighbors age in their own homes. We bridge existing gaps in senior services and family support with age-friendly resources, volunteers, and an expanded network of friends close to home.
When we are young, we take for granted our abilities to accomplish things – seeing to simple chores around the house, getting around in our community, even visiting friends. As we grow older, things become more challenging. Villages NW is an organization of volunteers and friends that lend a helping hand.
Transportation is our most requested service followed by assistance with household chores (changing light bulbs, moving furniture, yard clean up) and help understanding how to use smart phones, tablets and computers. We offer older adults the opportunity to have meaningful involvement in the community and our volunteers organize 50 social, educational and wellness activities every month.
Our first Village, Eastside, began delivering services two and a half years ago with 30 members. Today we have six Villages delivering services to 450 members in the Metro area. Two additional Villages in Vancouver and Lake Oswego/West Linn are offering social activities and expect to begin delivering services within the next 18 months.
