https://www.bestbuddies.org/oregon/Best Buddies Oregon is proud to be an expansion of Best Buddies International, a global nonprofit organization that is dedicated to establishing a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendships in the school environment, as well as leadership development and social skill building for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). Specifically, we pair individuals with and without IDD into one-to-one friendships and work with local schools to develop chapters for friendship programs. By introducing children to individuals who are different from them at an early age it creates a cycle of acceptance. We also host Ambassador Trainings to teach public speaking and advocacy skills to promote independence.
