The mission of The ALS Association Oregon and SW Washington Chapter is to discover treatments and a cure for ALS, and to serve, advocate for, and empower people affected by ALS to live their lives to the fullest.
Since its inception in 2002, The ALS Association Oregon and SW Washington Chapter has served approximately 2,000 individuals with ALS and their families in Oregon and the six counties of SW Washington. Our chapter is the central source for services and education for people with ALS, their families, caregivers, and health care professionals. Each year, we provide services to approximately 600 families coping with ALS in Oregon and Southwest Washington.
The progression of ALS varies significantly from one person to another, requiring individualized care. Our local chapter responds to each person’s individual needs through personalized home visits to help families plan; a medical equipment program to aid with daily living; augmentative communication and assistive technology program to support communication needs; monthly support groups; education and outreach; and other individualized services.
