Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge

http://friendsoftualatinrefuge.org

Located on the outskirts of Portland, OR, Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is one of only a handful of urban national wildlife refuges in the country. Situated within the floodplain of the Tualatin River, the Refuge comprises less than 1% of the 712 square mile watershed. Yet, due to it's richness and diversity of habitats, the Refuge supports some of the most abundant and varied wildlife in the watershed. The Mission of Friends of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge is to support the development and management of Tualatin River National Wildlife Refuge. We are dedicated to restoring and protecting Refuge habitats as well as providing wildlife education and recreation. Refuge and Friends staff work together to coordinate programs and services for the public, many of which are run on the ground by volunteers. Programs include education programs for school groups visiting the refuge and outreach programs in the local community. At the refuge, we have a Visitor Center that is open to the public 6 days per week and over 3 miles of trails to explore to observe wildlife. All programs, including the staffing of our Visitor Center, are volunteer-run.
