About the Project

What if your college experience could change someone else’s future?

Minds Matter Portland is seeking committed mentors for our Hillsboro Saturday site for the 2026–2027 academic year. Mentors are paired with a motivated high school student and a co-mentor, meeting weekly during Saturday sessions to guide students through academic, personal, and college-preparation milestones.

Mentors support students with summer program applications, college essays, university selection, and long-term planning. Sessions also include engaging activities such as current events debates, financial literacy lessons, and executive functioning skill-building. Mentors serve as trusted advisors, role models, and champions throughout a student’s high school journey.

Mentor expectations include:

-Attend at least 80% of in-person Saturday sessions

-Hold a four-year college degree

-Build and maintain a strong mentoring relationship

-Act as a positive role model and advocate for 3 years
